Beacon Falls Congregational Church is making it's entire facilities handicap accessible!
The "Access for All" committee are members of the Beacon Falls Congregational Church. The mission of this committee is as follows:
"The Access for All committee of the Beacon Falls Congregational Church was formed to allow people with physical limitations, whether due to a developmental disability, injury, age or illness, to fully use the church and its facilities. Our goal is to build a lasting infrastructure that will permit everyone, regardless of ability, to partake in religious and community events held at the church. Plans include the addition of an elevator, ramps, and a handicap-accessible bathroom, as well as necessary changes to the existing structure to accommodate these improvements".
Any money raised will be used to fund the down payment of the mortgage and any ongoing costs of the project. The application for the mortgage is imminent and is top priority, but with such a large scale project there will be many areas that will need financial assistance.
This vital project will enhance the viability of the church to serve the local community and beyond to a much greater level than before. Everyone has always been welcome at the church, and this project will ensure that 'everyone' can now actually be part of it. From the elderly and those with limitations of mobility, to funeral groups that will be able to better serve families due to easier access during the service. Also to community and service organizations who have also used our church as a meeting place, such as:
- Alcholics Anonomous
- United Day School
- Cub, Boy and Girl scout units
- Al-Anon & GRASP
...and numerous others over the years
The church family will be able to reach out and open its arms to include all - and that is our goal for this large and important renovation.
This project is of vital importance! The church members, their families and the local community will recieve a direct benefit. However, more importantly it is a generational project that will help the church to grow and thrive and to increase it's "family" over the years to come.
