Josh's medical fund

Whether you know my brother Josh personally or not; know he's a selfless person who would do nearly anything to help a person  in need.  Josh relocated to Oklahoma only 3 months ago with his wife Megan so that he could support her in her dream of furthering her education.  They purchased their 1st home together after being married for 15 years and things were falling in to place.  See Josh is a United States Veteran and hasn't been in 1 place for too long.  Our family is from Illinois and we are unable to be there full time to help support him in his recovery.

On the morning of September 16, 2016, Josh was on his way to work when he was in a horrible motor vehicle accident that will forever change his life. Josh was rear-ended by a driver assumed to be distracted and traveling at a righ-rate of speed in a 70 MH zone.

The violent impact immediately caused a compression fracture of Josh's T 12 vertebrae which left him immobile and in great pain while pinned in his vehicle. After calling 911 himself and losing consciousness at least once on the call, firefighters and EMT'S arrived and after extraction and another lose of consciousness - stabilized Josh enough to transport him to OU Trama Center in Oklahoma City where x-rays, CT scans, and MRI's revealed his spinal fracture.

Josh has now been outfitted with a custom fit Hyper-X Thoracic brace that he will have to wear at all times other than sleeping for the next 5 weeks. After that time, he will be re-evaluated by his neuro-surgical team at the OU Medical Center to determine how his spine is healing. Those result may involve rehabilitation or surgery. At this time, Josh is unable to stand or sit upright for very long and is restricted from driving.

We are hopeful the the pain Josh is experiencing will subside soon and his fracture will heal appropriately. In that case, would only require physical therapy and life-style changes.  Worst case senerio after re-evaluation, Josh would need to have surgery for a spinal fusion of up to 5 vertebrae.

Josh's initial treatment, scans and hospital stay will most likely exceed their initial insurance medical requiring them to pay out-of-pocket until settlement can be reached - which could take up to 2 years or more. Josh also just learned that his car has been deemed a total loss by his insurance company.

Please consider joining me and my family in supporting Josh and his wife while they endure and address the numerous unforseen physical, emotional and financial costs of this tragic accident.

Donations will go toward out-of-pocket medical expenses and transportation for Josh to get to and from doctor appointments and therapy (while his wife is in school for her PhD).  We can't thank you enough for reading my brother's story.
