We are Angela & Richard Hill, owners and operators of Dress Up & Dance!, a non-alcohol ballroom dance social club in Lake County, Illinois. Our small, but elegant dance club was opened in 2011 and has become a staple for dancing and socializing for mature adults in Lake County and the greater Chicago area. Since opening 5 years ago, we have put our hearts and souls into our business and have true faith in its continued growth and success.
We advertise, but our business has grown primarily through word of mouth. Our customers have always been pleased by our unique approach to dancing: “Just enjoy the dance!” The environment is always clean, comfortable and safe, and the music is ALWAYS great and varied. We are proud to say that our concept has been the same for the past 5 years and will continue throughout the future.
As our client base has increased significantly, we have outgrown our original location in Grayslake and are now moving into a new 3700+ square foot location. The new space will have a new look, new flavor, and new style to enhance our customers’ comfort and ensure every experience at DU&D! is enjoyable and memorable. A large number of our customers consider DU&D! their “home club” for dancing and have often stated it’s like “being invited into your living room as your friend or your family.” We love the fact that they feel this way.
DU&D! is more than a dance club…it’s more of an experience. We strive to include those who may feel alone or, in some way, neglected and we put extra effort into making everyone feel like they are a part of something bigger than themselves.
The purpose of this GoFundMe is to cover the cost of the work to prep and level the floors in the new location. We were surprised to learn the floors needed significantly more leveling than we initially anticipated. The unexpected additional costs associated with the increased floor preparation has greatly increased the total cost to install the new, floating dance floor we purchased. That is the reason we are reaching out for assistance. Our target date to reopen is mid-late October.
We do what we do out of love for dancing, love for our customers, and love for our communities. Any help you can offer, big or small, is appreciated…even if it’s just sharing this link/post with others.
