We are the friends and family of Daniel Onoa!
Daniel (pictured on left) is a funny, kind, caring person. He's a hard worker, a great soccer player and a true friend.
Daniel was also an undocumented citizen of the United States for most of his life. Having been brought to the US from Colombia when he was in second grade with his mother and brother, he lived as any other kid in America would. He went to school, he played sports, he even got a job when he was in high school to help support his family.
Daniel was granted a work Visa in 2014 through the DACA policy. But on Tuesday, September 20th, Daniel was arrested and taken into custody by US immigration for breaking part of his contract with the DACA. His arrest could lead to the government not allowing him to renew his visa which would mean he would have to leave the country.
WE ARE FIGHTING FOR DANIEL TO STAY!
We recognize that our character is built from more than just the mistakes that we have made. Daniel has been an active member of our community since he was a kid and forcing him to leave would be far too harsh of a punishment for someone who is just as American as you and I!
This fund has been created to help post bail when Daniel is released and to help pay for his other legal expenses from this whole trial. We are asking for $10,000 by Wednesday, October 5th! We must try to get these funds together before his trial that way he can be released as soon as possible!
To many of us, Daniel is more than a friend, he's family.
