Dex's road to recovery

This Gofundme page is being created for two very important family members. Chris and Dex Aspin. They are each suffering through an incredible tragedy. Chris is a hard working single dad who is enduring watching his son Dex, suffer through a very traumatic, near fatal and unexpected medical emergency.

Dex never complains, that's why when he started having pain in his stomach about 4 weeks ago Chris took him to the hospital. While at the hospital the Doctors thought he was diplaying symptoms of appendicitis and sent him home. Then 1 week later as he started feeling worse doctors thought it maybe a really bad flu and sent him home again.
 
Last Tuesday while Dex was trying to use the washroom, he had a complete bowel prolapse, meaning they came completely out of his body, Chris was home thankfully and called the Ambulance immediately they rushed him to the hospital. Upon repairing what had occurred they did a scope but failed to do a complete, thorough analysis and did not see any further issues, again sent him home not knowing that he in fact had a perforation higher up than they looked. Leaving Dex to become septic, with toxins leaching into his body, within 24 hours he went into Cardiac arrest. Dex had to be resuscitated 3 times and rushed back to the emergency room of the Naniamo Regional General Hospital where they tried to operate with an incision from his hips to his chest, and found it was too complicated so they sealed off the perforation, induced a coma and had him air lifted to Vancouver Childrens Hospital fearing the severity of his condition.

It was a miracle they were able to take him in for surgery last night, as he was having seizures and vitals were unstable.

Chris and Dex are not only father and son, they're best friends. They do everything together. Dex also lost his mother in a tragic car accident 3 years ago.
Chris does everything he can for his only son. The bond they have is unbreakable.

Only one month ago Dex was just an average 14 year old boy, BMX biking, jumping on trampolines, boating and fishing all with His dad. Dex is an intelligent kid, loves world facts and anything science related. Most of all Dex is a selfless, kind hearted young man that LOVES his family.

Chris needs to be able to stay by his sons side through this, money is extremely tight.  Easter seals has kindly offered to house Chris for 30 days but that does not cover food and daily necessities for either of them. This recovery is going to be a long and hard road. Financial strains should be the least of Chris and Dex's worries.

Please help to alleviate this pressure for them and give anything you can. I know times are tough for a lot of people but I believe giving is the key to happiness and in this case your very health.

A very concerned family

My name is Jasmine, I am married to Ken, Chris and Dex's very close cousin and we live in Victoria. 
I Have already set up an account that Dex and Chris have full access to. For any and all needs that arise. 
Some of the fund will be given to Dex as soon as he is better to help with anything he needs for recovery or maybe a new bike, as he needs to get back to being a normal teenager. 
Money does not go far these days but I can already say with confidence that we have made life for them a tiny bit easier. 
During some moments with low pain Dex has been able to hear some of the amazing messages that everyone has sent and heard about the donations. He smiled and cried he was so touched.
