Maxwell Mason Johnson
Maxwell Mason Johnson is a 5 year old, kindergarten student at Claymont Elementary School in the Parkway School District.  On July 20, 2016 Maxwell was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, cancer of the central nervous system.  July 22, 2016, Maxwell had surgery to remove a brain tumor. His doctors soon discovered that a fragment of that tumor had broken away and moved into his spinal column.  That tumor fragment was classified as inoperable.  Maxwell has recently completed 35 radiation treatments (5 days a week for 6 weeks) accompanied with chemotherapy (1 treatment every week for 6 weeks).  He will have another MRI on November 1, 2016 to determine the status of the tumor in his spine and the presence of cancer cells. Maxwell will then begin an additional 6 months of chemotherapy with multiple days of aggressive chemotherapy (hospitalization) in November and December.

Maxwell is a very loving, kind, and sensitive person.  He is always concerned about his younger brother, Courtland.  Anytime a kindness is shown toward him, he will ask for the same kindness for Cortland.  Maxwell also loves school.  Even though he was going through his radiation, and chemotherapy, Maxwell insisted on attending school each day after his treatment.  Now that he has completed the radiation, he is very excited about attending school all day.  Maxwell like all other 5 year olds has many favorite things he enjoys.  The things that Maxwell enjoys are:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Raphael
World Wrestling  (WWE) – Jeff Hardy
Michael Jackson and doing his dance moves
Movies – Rocky (all movies), Police Academy

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5,6

As a Christian family, we have always trusted God for his love, protection, and direction.  When we were first given Maxwell’s diagnosis, we began praying for God’s help.  Our families (personal, church, extended) gathered around Maxwell and have constantly prayed for his recovery.  We have been blessed to be surrounded by doctors, nurses, and caregivers who are also people of faith.  They have provided Maxwell with excellent care and given us the needed support and encouragement.  Although we know that we have not yet completed our journey, we have faith that God will be with us and make Maxwell victorious in his battle against cancer.  We have been blessed to have many family members and friends who continue to be there for us with their support and prayers.  Over the past several months, the expenses are beginning to pile up, so we would greatly appreciate any financial support that can be given.  We would like to thank you in advance for your consideration and generosity.
