Tawakoni Pool Repairs

Owned and operated by the Christian Church in Kansas (DOC), the Disciples Center at Tawakoni provides a beautiful natural setting for sleep-away camps, retreats, meetings, family reunions, corporate events, weddings, and more. Located about 30 minutes outside of Wichita, our year-round facilities host a variety of groups for overnight and day events.
The outdoor pool and bathhouse needs major renovations to bring it into the 21st century, and to bring it up to the standards of the rest of the facility.
We are seeking $300,000 to renovate the pool entirely. The project includes:
Putting a new modern pool inside the footprint of the existing one, with a maximum depth of 5.5 feet and beach entry at the shallow end for easy, accessible entrance.
- A new filtration system
- Replacing the broken and hazardous decks in a more appropriate for camp use
- adding a spray park area for non-swimmers, young campers and those who want to be less active in the pool.
- New bathhouse
Our target is to have the new pool operational before our 2017 summer camping season starts.
