Johnny Lara – An extraordinary man needs your help
My name is Juan Carlos Lara. I work at Heritage Christian School in Northridge, California. This is a small traditional Christian school and we’re just getting our new school year underway.
About a month ago a student who I know in passing gave me a note. The note quoted Matthew 6:25-26, essentially saying “Do not worry. God loves and cares for you.” I didn’t know what this student chose to give me this note. My life is good. I have a loving wife and great kids. We aren’t having any particular problems. I kept the note because I felt that God was wanting to tell me something. I just didn’t know what yet.
Only a week later I received information about my brother. Not good news. Johnny, the baby of our family, had been startled awake one night baby seizures. Karol, Johnny’s wife, took him to the emergency room and Johnny was seen by docto4res there. He was referred to specialists who found that Johnny has a growth in his brain that is causing his seizures. They got a second opinion. This doctor agreed with the first diagnosis.
Both doctors have told Johnny that the cavernous venous malformation (cavernous angioma) must be removed surgically. There is not another option. In the meantime Johnny is taking expensive medications to control the seizures.
Johnny and Karol live in Grecia, Costa Rica. Johnny participates in the socialized medical coverage offered in the country. So Johnny is on the waiting list for his surgery which is months and maybe years away unless the cavernous angioma becomes life-threatening. Then Johnny’s name would be moved up on the list and it might only be a matter of weeks away. But this is iffy.
The cost of having the needed surgery in a private hospital has been estimated at $60,000. This is just for the surgery; it does not include any medications either now or later during recovery.
Right now Johnny is not supposed to work, doctor’s orders. He is medicated to control his seizures and has been told to rest.
Two years ago Johnny and Karol created and opened the very popular Mas q’Sabor eatery near the post office in Grecia. Besides his health Johnny is concerned for his business. He has trained his staff well and they are all ‘Stepping up to the plate.” But Johnny wants to be healthy enough to get back to his business, back to his life. He is only 36 years old and he and Karol have so much to live for.
We are setting Johnny’s goal at $75,000 – enough to cover surgery in a private hospital as well as meds needed now and later.
As I look at the note that God sent to me I realize there are angels who are wanting to help Johnny get the surgery he needs as quickly as possible. Are you one of Johnny’s angels?

Hace aproximadamente un mes, un estudiante al cual conozco poco me entrego una nota. La nota citaba a Mateo 6:25-26 y básicamente decía “No te preocupes. Dios te ama y cuida de ti.” No sabía por qué este estudiante eligió entregarme esta nota a mí. Tengo una buena vida. Tengo una esposa que me ama 7 unos hijos extraordinarios. No estamos teniendo problemas. Guarde la nota porque sentí que Dios intentaba decirme algo; era cuestión de tiempo para que comprendiera cuál era su mensaje.
Tan solo una semana más tarde recibí información de mi hermano; no fueron buenas noticias. Johnny, el bebe de nuestra familia, habia despertado una noche, abruptamente, con convulsiones. Karol, su esposa, lo llevo a Emergencias, donde Johnny fue examinado por varios doctores. Lo refirieron a especialistas, quienes descubrieron que Johnny tenía una tumoración en su cerebro, que estaba causando sus convulsiones. Obtuvieron una segunda opinión y el Nuevo doctor estuvo de acuerdo con el diagnóstico de los primeros.
Ambos doctores le han dicho a Johnny que su tumor, el cual afortunadamente es benigno, debe ser removido quirúrgicamente. No hay otra opción. Mientras tanto, Johnny toma medicamentos muy costosos para controlar sus convulsiones. Estos medicamentos no son cubiertos por su seguro médico.
Johnny y Karol viven en Grecia, Costa Rica. Johnny está cubierto por el seguro médico local, que lo ha colocado en una lista de espera pasara de meses a semanas; pero realimente no hay garantías.

Es un hombre de tan solo 36 años; él y Karol tienen tanto por lo cual vivir.
Estamos estableciendo la meta de Johnny en $75,000 – suficiente para cubrir su cirugía en un hospital privado, 7 los medicamentos que necesita ahora y más Adelante.
