Strain Family Support Fund

Bryan Strain and his son Josh were on their way home from a BYU game. On the way the stopped by the store to buy his wife Vonda an anniversary present to give her upon their arrival. They have been married for twenty three years as of Sunday.

While driving though the canyon at two in the morning, Josh starting dozing off. Suddenly, Bryan said, "Oh crap." The car went air-born, hit the dirt, and rolled three times. Bryan was ejected from the car, which landed on top of him. Luckily, Josh was able to kick the crumpled door open, run back to the road, and flag down help.

Bryan and Josh were taken by separate ambulances to North Sanpete Hospital. Josh was banged up and was released a few hours later. Bryan was life-flighted to Utah Valley Hospital immediately. He has a broken leg, fractured ribs, multiple fractures along his spine, including bones in his neck that connect his spine to his skull, broken skull, broken jaw, swollen and bleeding in the brain, and internal bleeding.

He was comatose. The doctors said it will be a waiting game to see if he wakes up.

Countless prayers have been said through tears. Friends and family have cycled in and out of the Neuro Shock Trauma ICU. Now three days later, he has been awake several times, and responsive. The ventilator was removed this morning. As of this morning, he was able to squeeze hands, wiggle toes, and nod his head to answer questions. He remains in critical condition, but we are filled with hope.

Under the best circumstances, he will need months of physical therapy and will need to be tended to twenty-four-seven during that time.

Bryan was the sole provider for himself, Vonda, Josh, and their daughter Amberly. Three years ago Bryan and his family moved to Mount Pleasant so Vonda could help take care of her parents.

They have wanted to move back North for a while now, but it was never the right time. Now, we feel it is in their best interest for Bryan's care. Vonda is staying in a hotel by the hospital now while Josh and Amberly have been traveling between Mt Pleasant and Utah Valley hospital.

All of the money raised will go to Vonda, who is not aware this GoFundMe is being created (she would never ask for help). While we are currently under the impression that insurance will cover Bryan's expenses, Josh's medical bills will not be, and their car is totaled. This money will be used for the monthly expenses of the family. We estimate that it will cover about two months of expenses at most.

This is the biggest trial we have faced and we could use all of the support we can get. Every prayer and every penny counts. We will be eternally grateful for any donations and any prayers.
