Status of Pollination in Canada

The Canadian Pollination Initiative (CANPOLIN funded by Canada's Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council to $5 Million ended in 2014) and has as it ultimate aim to inform Canadians & the World about the present and changing face of Pollination in Canada.
CANPOLIN earmarked $10,000 to preparing an informative and scientifically accurate book to highlight and summarize what we know, and don't know, about pollination in Canada. The book project is now coordinated through Seeds of Diversity Canada (a charitable organization) which hosts Pollination Canada (https://www.seeds.ca/pollination).
Seeds of Diversity, Pollination Canada and CANPOLIN estimate that another $15,000 is needed to complete the book project.
The money raised (ncluding the $10,000 already in hand) will be used for assembling and editing the Chapters of the book, for type-setting the book with illustrations, explanatory side-bars, in an attractive and readable format.
Already, the CANPOLIN team members have agreed to provide Chapters in their areas of expertise.
Chapters will be on wild pollinators (bees, butterflies, beetles, flies and birds) to managed honeybees, bumblebees and leafcutting bees, explain the importance of wind pollination in Canada, provide scientifically accurate explanations of why plants, crops and wild plants, need pollination, discuss the ecology of pollination inter-relationships in Canada's hugely diverse environments (arctic to Carolinian forests), how pollination effects the national economy, what policy and law have to do with pollination, what the future may hold for pollination, food and fibre production and environmental sustaibability, and how the public is now contributing. Everything you want to know about pollination!
Funds are needed ASAP and on a continuing basis until the book is published in both paper and electronic versions. We expect this to take about a year to 18 months. Publishers, printers, and ISBN are already organized.
This project is hugely important to Canada. The results are crucial to the sustained health of Canada's beekeeping industry, ecosystem health, agricultural productivity, conservation & restoration, policy and planning for the future.
The book project is being voluntarily overseen by Peter Kevan. He was the scientific director of CANPOLIN throughout its funding duration.
If the project is able to generate more that expected, extra funds will be directed to printing colour pictures to be included in the paper version.
The project will acknowledge all donors by publishing their names (with their permissions, of course) in the book and providing a paper copy of the book free of charge to all donors who contribute $55.00 or more.
Donations made through Seeds of Diversity (https://www.seeds.ca/pollination) will receive receipts for tax purposes.
