Patricia's Kidney Transplant

My name is Alejandra Flores and I am Patricia's sister. I want to tell you a little bit about her. Pati, as her friends and family call her, has been battling with Kidney disease since she was 9 years old. She has been in and out of hospitals more times than anyone person should have too. She been poked, prodded, studied all to no avail. At 21 she lost the last remaining kidney she had and was immediately placed on dialysis. At first hemodialysis but that took an awful toll on her so they placed her on peritoneal dialysis. Our mom had to learn how to disinfect the entire house and prepare for all possible outcomes. As you can imagine this placed a huge amount of pain and stress not only to Pati but to our entire family. As we all began to get accustomed to our new normal we began to see the devastating effects on her. Not only on a physical level but on an emotional and spiritual one. Pati has been on peritoneal dialysis for almost 11 years. 11 years of living off a machine. 11 years of not knowing when it will no longer continue to fulfill its purpose. 11 years of denials on insurance and transplants. Pati isn't eligible for insurance due to regulations on her immigration status. Although she is able to work, pay taxes and has been a law abiding citizen she continuously has been denied the opportunity to receive her much needed transplant. I am her donor. I am willing to give her my kidney to save her life. All we need is money. If we are able to raise a sufficient amount of money the hospitals are willing to work with us and provide her the ability to receive her kidney. So we ask to please donate.
