Animal Rescue Efforts

I live in rural Texas, and therefore, like others living in rural areas, I'm the target for people who dump their unwanted cats or dogs. Seeing animals suffer in so many different ways is a difficult thing to see. I've seen some animals so emaciated from being "lost" or dumped, they couldn't eat food at first. I've seen stray animals be killed on the roads, because they were trying to eat some piece of the previous animal that was killed. I've seen kittens walk into traffic out in the middle of nowhere on some of the country roads of Texas. When a cat or dog comes by my place because they smell water or something they think could be food, I found myself unwilling to turn them away. But the expenses of food and vet bills are difficult on my budget.

I'm currently caring for 16 animals after many months of failed attempts to find whatever previous owner might have existed. I expect more will find their way here, although, I know other rural residents have this happen, too.

Finally, I will not foster any indifference and cruelty to these animals that others sometimes suggest or practice. And as long as I can, I will not ignore their needs. My hope is that one day someone will become their family. Until then, I am their family and this is my GoFundMe effort to help with food and vet bills.

I wish I could do it all by myself. I took on the care and feeding of animals that others abandon. But, I am not able to do it all by myself, so once again, I ask for those of you who would like to help, please go to my GoFundMe page and donate what you can. I appreciate it and the animals are helped by all of us, together.

My cache of Friskies cat food cans, which I bought during a fantastic discounting few weeks at HEB, is being used up. It's time to look for another great discount avenue for the cat food. So, if anyone knows of a Friskies cat food, can or dry, couponing or discount time going on at either HEB or Walmart or online, please drop me a line. I focus on Friskies because it's affordable for me and it's acceptable in quality.
So, Walmart, HEB (here in Texas) or online. PS. The discounted price I got the last time this happened, was about .37 cents/can of cat food. Currently the shelf price is .45/can for cases and .48/can. If anyone
objects to Friskies, and feels I should go with a much better quality of cat food, I'm happy to accept your purchase for the cats. I'm willing to give you my address for delivery of your cat food purchase donation.
Thank you, everyone.

As life sometimes is, another young cat has been let go on my land. Unfortunately, when I found it, it had been attacked by another animal and required an emergency visit to the vet. Expenses like this are not possible for me right now and I need to ask for any help with vet bills that anyone might be able to offer. On the good news side, HEB has been running specials on some of the food I feed the animals. The current reduced cost of food has been helpful along with the help people have given to purchase food. With this the other animals are being fed regularly and are doing well.

The hard part of putting forth this effort isn't the care or feeding everyday of the animals dumped on the property here. It isn't the challenge to a very tight budget. The hard part is when I see another cat or dog dumped in the area - by someone - seeing the animal thin, hungry, lost, and then run away into the woods if I try to approach. The hard part is knowing someone dumped an animal here in rural Texas and its very near future is probably its own death. Yeah, that's the hard part. These animals could be loved and could love someone. They could have been family members. The few that come nearer to my place, these I have food for with people who help me buy food. And I know there are people in the world who do a great deal more than I do in my efforts, and they know what I learn- we help those we're able to help, and know the feelings of when we're not able.
