Making Life Easier For Zahra!

Hi this is Zahra O'Connor.Zahra is 5 years old and lives with her parents Todd and Melissa and siblings Ruby, Cooper and Tilly.Zahra has a rare genetic syndrome called Kleefstra Syndrome. KLEEFSTRA SYNDROME is caused by the loss of the EHMT1 gene or by mutations that disable its function.Kleefstra Syndrome has caused these characteristics for Zahra:- Severe Intellectual Disability- Non verbal- Hypotonia (low muscle tone)- Hypo-mobile (floppy joints)- Microcephaly (small brain)- Distinctive Facial Features- Hearing Impairment - Visual Impairment- Autism and ADHD- Sensory Processing DisorderZahra can walk but can be quite unsteady and uses a walking frame for long distances. Zahra still can't walk up and down stairs she also finds it very difficult to climb which means we have to lift her in and out of her car seat. Zahra has behaviours which requires her to take medication to help her control them. Unfortunately the medication that she takes causes weight gain. Zahra is only 5 years old and weighs nearly 30kg. With the combination of Zahra becoming quite heavy and unable to climb this is putting a huge strain on her parents backs when lifting Zahra in and out of the car.We are wanting to raise money to install a TURNY SEAT into the family car. The seat will come out of the car for Zahra to sit on, on her level and then will automatically go back into the car. This will make a huge difference as her parents won't have to lift her in and out of her car seat anymore as Zahra has many car trips for Dr appointments.The TURNY SEAT costs $15,000 which is impossible for us to pay for as we live off one wage so her Mum can be her carer.
