My dog Sofi's cancer treatment

Donation protected
This is Sofi!
She is my beautiful loving little girl. She thinks she is human, she is 10yrs old now and she is the alpha dog along side her two step brothers, Bandit and Baxter

Sofi has had a rough 2016, in mid July she had what we thought was a boil on her backside and had made an appt to see our vet. Within days it more then doubled in size. On July 29th she had a large tumor removed from her backside and after it was biopsied it came back as MCT Cancer (Mast Cell Tumors)

Just two weeks after her first surgery the tumors came back strong, and not just one but many. It was horrible.

We quickly went back on 8/22/2016 to our vet and again put Sofi through another traumatic
surgery to remove the other tumors.
Each time we brought Sofi back home she was traumatized, crying and whimpering for about a day.

And once again just 10 days later the tumors returned worse then ever. We took her again to see our vet and again we were facing another surgery. The problem we had this time was that we were running out of money in order to continue surgeries every 2-3 weeks plus the surgeries were becoming to traumatic for Sofi to go through.

What savings we had was running low, but then one of the nurses at our vet recommended we go see an oncologist in Ontario Ca, California Veterinary Specialists. We decided to take a chance and go see the oncologist, Dr. Heller.

The moment Dr. Heller looked at Sofi he said no more surgeries, she needs a form of chemotherapy called Palladia and the steroid Prednisone. Together these would stop the blood supply to the tumors and extend her life. We started her on this treatment that day and in less then two weeks Sofi's tumors were gone!

The treatment for her tumors is on going and expensive.
It cost about $650 a month every month. The cost includes the Palladia, Prednisone, Blood Work and Doctor visit. Without treatment Sofi's tumors will come back within days and her life will be very short.

We were somehow able to pay for Septembers, Octobers and Novembers treatments but now we have completely run out of money to continue Sofi's treatments.

A little history on why we are asking for help.
Just a few years ago we had a nice business and a nice home that we had built in 2002. After the recession hit we lost our business and our home.
Fannie Mae who now owned our home allowed us to rent it back for a while with the hopes of someday buying it back. I was only able to find a minimum wage customer service job, and my husband started a small online sales business. In 2014 Fannie Mae said it was time for us to leave since we were unable to buy back our home and they now wanted to sell it.

Since our credit is not good enough to qualify for a rental house and nobody is willing to rent to people with 3 big dogs we are forced to stay in a motel room for now. My husband has to work part time as a security guard since his online sales are not enough to support us right now.

But to make matters much worse, I am a type 1 diabetic of 42 years and this summer right before Sofi was diagnosed with cancer I suffered a retina eye detachment in my right eye since I have retinopathy. I went on state disability for 5 weeks to have surgery and when I returned to work in August the new management decided to terminate me with no reason. I was told they were an At Will company and they did not need a reason. I believe it was because of my eyes but what could I do. So now I am collecting unemployment benefits with just 12 weeks left and because of that our monthly income has dropped to very little.

We are not so much worried about our selves right now as we are about Sofi and wanting to make sure she can still receive her treatment every month.

Sofi's next appointment is December 14th and every month from there on. We could really use abut10 months of funds but right now just one month would be a blessing.

I want to thank all who is willing to help my little girl.
Sincerely
