Mum's Medical Bill (Breast Cancer)
Hello!
My name is Ify Mbanugo and I am trying to raise money for my mum's medical bills!
On August 2015, my mum was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer after she had a biopsy and mammogram.
She was given two weeks to live at the time by the first doctor we saw.
She had a Mastectomy 5 days later, after which a histology was done which came back with the following result: 'Invasive Ductal Carcinma NST SBR III, High Grade; T2Mx Nx'
We were advised to get a Immunohistochemistry done for prognostic determination of hormone receptor. The diagnosis was 'Invasive Ductal Carcinma NST(SBR III, High Grade; T2Mx N2) ER+, PR+, HER2+++ Positive. This means that her Estrogene and Progesterone receptors both tested positive to cancer cells and HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2) tested positive also.
She has been through Chemotherapy(8 courses; a course every three weeks) and Radiotherapy(5 days for a duration of 4 weeks). Our next phase for her is to commence Hormonal(4 courses) and Monoclonal therapy (12 courses). She had done three courses of the monoclonal therapy but we couldn't continue as we didnt have sufficient funds. So far, we have spent an estimated 2-3 million naira on treatments and tests.
She had a CT scan done last week when we observed the area of her mastectomy was tender and swelling. She was in excrutiating pain and couldn't move her arm and neck properly. She was put on medication and we were advived to commence the hormonal and monoclonal therapies immediately as the aggressive cancer cells were detected. Our next phase for her is to commence Hormonal(4 courses) and Monoclonal therapy (12 courses).
Each course for Monoclonal therapy is 400,000naira; Monoclonal Antibody Trastuzumb (Hertraz by Mylan) This cost rises the more the Naira falls as it is dependent on the Dollar
400 x 12 = 4.8 million naira
Each course for Hormonal Therapy is 75,000 Naira; Tab Ufur 200Mg
75 x 4 = 300.000 naira.
Doctor's services - 120,000naira for 12 months.
The rest of the money will be used for all tests to be done during the duration of all treatments(1 year) and her after care.
We need money as soon as we possible can get donations because her treatments should have started.
This will mean so much to us because our mum has been through so much; I've been with her during every step of her treatment and I cant even begin to imagine how much pain and discomfort she has had to bear. All the side effects of medications and treatments. We just want our mum alive and well with us.
