Help For The Homeless Of Newark,NJ

I am an Uber Driver in the NY/NJ area. I recently took my first Trip to Penn Station in Newark and was shocked to find out how many homeless people there are in this area. On McCarter Highway in Newark you can find homeless people sleeping on benches or trying to collect money in paper cups in the center of the road. On my last trip I decided that I couldn't just keep driving by them and ignoring them. I decided I wanted to do a good deed and help feed some of them. I drove to a nearby McDonalds and asked them if they could fill a bag with Hamburgers & Cheeseburgers. That I would pay them whatever it would cost when I drove around! I used the money that I had earned in tips for that day! I drove down McCarter Highway and reached a homeless man and asked him if he could do me a favor and distribute some food to some of his friends and told him that I was sorry about his present situation. He informed me that he was a Vietnam Veteran who was suffering from PTSD and thanked my for my generosity. He also informed me that I needed a permit according to local law to distribute food to the homeless, and that there was not enough being done to help people who are in his situation. I recently confirmed that a permit is required at a fee of $5 from the cities health officer!!! I am asking anyone who could spare just $1 or whatever you are able to give to help provide food/ clothing/housing  costs to these people. Many of these people are homeless through no fault of their own.Soon it will be Winter and the death rate for these individuals will increase with no food or shelter!!! All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to The National Coalition for the Homeless!!!
