My name is Shauna Freidenberger and I have created this gofundme for a man who I love with all my heart and soul.
My best friend, Kevin, is battling liver cancer. He is fighting angio sarcoma and a seperate malignant tumor. He is currently undergoing painful injections and treatments at Cancer Care Alliance in Seattle, WA.
Kevin served in the US Navy as an Aviation Electricians Mate. He since went on to work as a framer before a knee injury took him into working maintence for apartment complexes. He has always been a dedicated and honest worker, every day going the extra mile.
On weekends, his/our favorite thing to do was sit with our dogs Kayla and Luke on the porch, cooking and hanging with friends and watching the summer sky change. Kevin loves bringing joy to people.
What makes me love Kevin so deeply is the heart that he has. Despite his 6'4 strong appearance, Kevin has a heart of gold. He is the type of guy that will drop everything to help someone in need; without question and without expectation. He loves being of service and helping people see the beauty of life. His smile and funny laugh reveal his loving mischief and yearn for adventure. He stands for integrity and trying to be the best you can be.
Kevin is a true good samaritan by every stretch of the term.
An example of this was when his senior citizen coworker became extremly ill and landed in ICU. This man did get well enough to leave, but the hospital would not let him go home because he required a hospital bed to be installed in order for him to fully recover. This man's family could not afford to purchase a hospital bed so he was instead continuing to rack up hospital bills. Kevin saw how much this man needed to come home and recover in a place he loved so Kevin took the Christmas bonus he was given two days before, (equal to one month's rent) and bought a used hospital bed for his coworker. This allowed him to come home and recover in a place he felt safe and supported. Kevin could have used that money, but he did what he thought was right. Now, Kevin needs support more than he ever thought possible,
Due to medical bills and intense recovery time after the cancer treatments, Kevin is now owing back rent and medical bills. Kevin may also be requiring surgery on his liver to try and remove the angio sarcoma. The owners of the house where Kevin lives have stated that despite the cancer battle, and the fact that he has worked for the company as a maintenence man for the last 5 years, he needs to pay all back rent by the first of October. He fell behind when he got hit by a car earlier this year while walking and needed prolotherapy on his knees so he could literally walk and therefore work. (Yes, it has been one of the toughest years of Kevin's life, but, he is still fighting on.) If he cannot get at least $3000 by the 1st of October, he will be forced to move and live in his truck with his dog, Kayla and continue with the cancer treatments. He has no where else to go, He has to stay in Seattle in order to receive these necessary treatments.
It is hard to write all these things and be vulnerable. Asking for help isnt the easiest thing to do. However, I am fighting for the man that I love who deserves support in his hour of need. If we reach even half this goal we would be beyond grateful. Anything to allow Kevin to stay in his place where their is food, shelter and a bed to recover after the liver treatments is the only gift I could ask for!
