NLCP Lady Phoenix Girls Basketball

North Lawndale College Prep High School is located in poverty stricken area where violence is considered normal behavior. Our Student Athletes are forced to navigate these troubles streets of Chicago, IL with the hopes of one day fulfilling their lifelong dream of playing basketball at the collegiate level and  or professional level. One can only imagine the images they are exposed to leaving school and traveling through these impoverished neighborhoods wondering if they would ever have an opportunity to live out their dreams. The reason for this GoFundme is due to extreme budget cuts from CPS (Chicago Public School) our girls basketball program has suffered drastically. This gofundme will provide financial assistance for basketball uniforms, tournaments in and out of state, traveling expenses, referee fees, sneakers, warm-ups and other important items to support our student athletes. Our girls experienced great success last season by winning the State Farm Classic Tournament is Bloomington Normal, IL. Our success continue by almost reaching the city championship  in which we fell short. However, our girls used their failure as motivation to fuel their fire to make an unbelieve run to become the first Girls basketball team in North Lawndale College Prep's history to compete for the 3A State Championship in Bloomington Normal, IL. By helping us will allow these girls to experience college trips and be exposed to something greater than their environment.The coaching staff is committed to make sure these young ladies be productive in life not just on the basketball court. Corey Morgan, Shamona McDaniel, DeWan White and Lamon Phillips are all educators and understand the importance of education and being a student athlete. This year the Varsity Girls Basketball Team will be traveling to St. Louis Mo for their Annual MLK Day Shoot out. We will be staying in St. Louis for 2 nights t St. Louis and Bloomington Normal IL, for  4 nights at the State Farm Christmas Tournament. Any donations you give would be greatly appreciated.
