Mike Harrison Medical Fund
I will continue to update this site as new information becomes available.
WOOHOO! WE LOVE YOU!
Mike's 52 years young today! And for his birthday, he was re-located to the 5th floor of the Albany County Nursing Home as renovations have begun on the facility and he is now two floors higher. I hear it's a better view and Mikey likes being high.... ;)
His physical recovery is coming along slowly but Michael is a warrior and works at it every day. His attitude is really good for the most part but he does get lonely there and there aren't many other residents that Mike has things in common with. If any of you are thinking of a birthday present, your PRESENCE would make an AWESOME PRESENT! The address, in case you need it, is:
780 Albany Shaker Rd
Albany, NY 12211
I'd also like to take a moment to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Michael's twin, our sister Tricia, who is smiling down on us all. You are so LOVED, MISSED and ALIVE in each one of our hearts.
We send all of our love, thoughts, gratitude and prayers out to all of you who care for Mike and read this page. This community of love has enabled Mike to come this far and with your continued support, he will continue to progress. THANK YOU!
Much love & light!
Hello all! It's been 4 months since my last update.... Time really does fly!
Talk about time flying, Mike had both of his sons graduate in June, Joe from Cazenovia College and Henry from Lansingburgh High School. Congratulations gentlemen, we are all very proud of you both!
June was also Father's Day and where else would Mike want to go for that than The Ale House! He had an awesome time seeing everyone and shocked quite a few people by remembering their names when it had been years since he had seen them and then even more so with his quick wit and sharp tongue! Michael really comes alive and shows remarkable mental recovery when stimulated like that which is incredibly encouraging to us. He doesn't get enough of that kind of engagement at the facility in Albany on a regular basis so I do encourage everyone to stop by if they are in the area and play a game of cards with him or just bust chops... He is guaranteed to make you smile!
The physical recovery has been much more of a struggle for him than his memory and mental acuity and the more stimulation he has from friends and family, the more we hope that will drive and motivate his physical recovery.
I have attached some pictures of Mike, Michele, Joe, Henry, and Grandma Mary from the last month's festivities as well as our sister Kate visiting Mikey yesterday with a delivery of fresh socks and a bundle of love! ;)
Hope everyone's enjoying their summer! Michael and the rest of our family send all our love, thoughts, prayers and gratitude out to each and everyone of you!
With Much Love & Light,
Hi all, It's been a little while since I updated this site and I apologize for that! Tomorrow is Mike's 51st birthday and his first birthday without his twin, our beautiful sister Tricia.... I know it will be especially tough for him tomorrow, although he would never admit it.
It would mean the world to him and to us if any of his local friends & family could stop by and visit him at the Albany Nursing and Rehab facility near the Albany Airport. The address, in case you don't have it, is:
THE ALBANY COUNTY NURSING & REHAB FACILITY
780 Albany Shaker Rd
Albany, NY 12211
VISITING HOURS: 10am - 8pm
Mike is on the 3rd floor, they can give you the room number when you sign in...
Praying you have a beautiful birthday tomorrow Mike, I love you endlessly and look forward to seeing you in June when I visit.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL! WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!
