My First Startup: Bargain Basement

Donation protected
It takes a village! I'm asking 200,000 people to DONATE $5.00 to help fund my start-up entitled "Bargain Basement," a Resale Retailer offering quality discounted new/gently-used apparel and home goods.

My neighborhood is filled with gas stations, grocery store chains, beauty supply stores, car dealerships, dry cleaners, liquor stores, fast food restaurants, discount retailers, and thrift stores. Guess what? None of the Proprietors are black. We need a change.

Out of 556 companies in my community, fewer than six are black owned . Why is that? Blacks spend less money in black-owned businesses than other racial and ethnic groups spend in businesses owned by members of their groups, including Hispanics and Asians.

A report by Nielsen and Essence estimates that black buying power will reach $1.3 trillion in the next few years, yet only a tiny fraction of that money is spent at black-owned businesses. Unless black people devote more attention to building wealth within the black community, they will always be behind.

Most importantly, I'm fed up with using my gifts, talents, and education to enrich wealthy corporations located outside of my community.

My company's goals and objectives are to become a successful DEBT FREE minority-owned retailer known for its economic empowerment, community job creation, customer service and tremendous below market products within the Retail Thrift Industry.

Right now you're probably thinking why not get a bank loan, or use your own money, and is this a scam? The answer to all of these questions is NO WAY.

1. Bank loans are costly.
Eliminating the stress and burden of debt will greatly increase the chances of creating a successful business. By paying your start-up costs with your own money, you'll never have to worry about the interest rates that come with loans and lines of credit, potentially saving you thousands of dollars. See what a nice ring that has to it?

2. Use your own money/capital.
I haven't any. That's why I'm asking you! However, my fifteen plus years in the retail industry, and my academic achievements; BBA Business Administration/Human Resource Management is highly beneficial for this challenging endeavor.
