Help Me Wheel Around The Course
Check updates for most recent info.
I'm Justin, I used to be an avid disc golfer. I first encountered the sport when over 15 years ago, walking across the Hoover Dam in Westerville, Ohio and got hit in the ankle by an errant throw, got my first disc less than a week later. I was active in the local clubs and played many tournaments and charity events in multiple states. Eventually I took a step away from the game due to life changes and health issues.
Here's where the problem starts, I have Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia. A very basic overview is the nerves and muscles in my legs do not communicate very well, leading to a difficult time walking, decreased balance, and a lot of pain. I became a fair weather golfer at this point, and started trying options. First, I switched from single shoulder to a backpack bag, that way I could use a walking stick. Then I converted my son's jogging stroller to a push cart, this helped at first. Now I'm getting to the point where a single round will leave me in pain for days, a two round event and I'm barely able to walk when I get home.
The conclusion I've come to is that an electric all terrain board (updated) will get me out on the courses and socializing again, without being in so much agony that it's no fun to throw. However, being on a fixed income means that I can not afford one on my own. Thus, I'm hoping that you, my family, friends, and fellow disc golfers might be willing to help me out.
Thank you so much, and I hope you see me scooting around on the courses.
Justin
