Please help Miss. Garcia

Hi my name is Jackie and I would like to raise money for my sister Miss Garcia. She is a kindergarten teacher and has been teaching at the poorest schools in our area for several years. Because of the poverty level the parents are not required to provide school supplies or snacks for their children. Kindergarten has been extended to an everyday full day program, as the children in the area need the extra help to pass to the next grade level.

My sister out of the kindness of her heart provides everything they need and more. If you were to visit her classroom you would be able to see the love she has for teaching. The school year has just started and she has already bought bags full of supplies and I know there are more things she will need for the rest of the school year.

There is so much she does for her kids; I often help her organize her classroom at the beginning of the school year. A few years ago I found a bag of children’s socks, confused I asked her what they were for? She told me she keeps a bag of new socks in her classroom at all times because kids show up to school with no socks on or in plastic crocs in the middle of winter. We live in Idaho where it gets cold and snows.

Another example of her generosity is end of the year testing, as we all know the education system puts pressure on kids to put their knowledge to a test. I have volunteered my time to help test and it makes me sad every time because you can see the anxiety in their eyes. These 5 and 6-year-old children know they are being tested and need to do well. To ease their anxieties my sister and her team will make them breakfast, pancakes and all. This helps them focus and makes the day fun for them, pancakes are made for 100-150 kids every year and all of this is paid for out the teachers pocket and done on their own time, arriving early so breakfast is ready when school starts.

My sister and her team have to raise money every year to take the kids on one field trip, the local zoo. They buy otter pops and sell them at the school to fund the field trip and who buys the otter pops? My sister and her team, she asks me to keep an eye out for them all year long so she can buy them when they are on sale. These are just a few examples of what she does. I know she is in debt because of what she does, how much is she in debt? I don’t know because she won’t say, she tells me not to worry about it. My family and I try to help but every year there is a new group of kids and more things to buy.

I am asking for $1000 to help her with this school year and help with some of her debt, anything given will be greatly appreciated.
