Jacqueline Lee-Martin Medical Fund

Earlier this year, Jacqueline Lee-Martin, 38 years old, received the devastating news that she has been diagnosed with a Papillary tumor of the pineal region.  Jacqueline underwent a partial resection on June 14, 2016.  She is now temporarily residing with her family in Edmonton at a local campground while she undergoes radiation treatments at the Cancer Agency from July 18 - September 6, 2016. Following radiation, Jacqueline will need to attend for follow-up brain and spinal scans.

Jacqueline's vision has been  impacted, as she suffers from severe Diplopia; therefore she can no longer drive.  Reading, walking and other gross motor skills have been negatively affected due to ongoing issues with equilibrium.  Jacqueline is suffering from severe headaches both pre and post surgery,  which are worsened by noise and movement.  The ongoing radiation treatments have plagued Jacqueline with nausea and a loss of taste resulting in ongoing weight loss.

Jacqueline's prognosis remains uncertain given this rare type of cancer and the fact that it will reoccur.  Response to treatment is unpredictable.  Her prognosis is poorer due to only a partial resection of the tumour.  The resolution of these symptoms also remains uncertain due to the invasive brain surgery and the damage to the brain tissue resulting from the radiation.

Jacqueline is employed as a paramedic and a paramedic instructor in Lac la Biche, Alberta, but has been on medical leave since her diagnosis.  She is the loving wife of Stephen Martin.  Together, they have four precious children; Mackenzie, Austin, Sarah and Samantha.

Jacqueline and and her family are currently under financial distress due to this devastating diagnosis.  Anyone wishing to help ease this burden and help out in this time of need can do so by donating.  Jacqueline continues to battle this fight with courage and positive energy.  Jacqueline has worked hard over the years to help others and is now in need of help including positive thoughts, prayers  and financial assistance.  On behalf of Jacqueline and her family, thanks for all of your support.  It is appreciated more than words can say.
