The following story comes from Clarke Southall, Branch Manager of the Baton Rouge location. Three team members in Clarke's branch have experienced partial or total loss of their home possessions during the recent deadly Louisiana floods. From Clarke:

"The initial rain started on Thursday (8/11) afternoon and strengthened Friday (8/12) as the front stalled over the northern Gulf of Mexico. As of Friday, no employees had been impacted. Saturday afternoon, with the rain still coming down very hard, Brian Davis’ rental house started flooding. It quickly rose 4 ½ foot into his home over a 3-4 hour period as the local bayous started to over flow. The overflowing bayous feed into the Amite River, which runs through Livingston Parish and the boundary of East Baton Rouge Parish. The house was not located in a flood zone, and thus no renters flood insurance was in place. Other than some items they were able to load into their cars and some salvageable clothes they left behind, all other possessions were damaged beyond repair.

Paul Allement closed on a new home 2 weeks ago; it too was not located in a flood zone. Paul’s new home took on a foot and a half of water, ruining the floors and requiring baseboards, some sheet rock and insulation be torn out. Stacy Honore bought her new home about 2 months ago, also not in a flood zone. On Sunday, as the water from overflowing rivers and bayous north of Stacy’s home moved her way, the home took on 1-2 feet of water; this resulted in damages similar to Paul. In both cases, some furniture may have been damaged, but not to the extent of Brian’s home, as they had a little more time to prepare.

All of us living in unaffected areas have taken in friends and/or relatives who had nowhere to stay - the hotels are all booked up and temporary shelters are not the best place to stay. We are all pulling together to get through this crazy and unprecedented event. We truly appreciate all the prayers being offered for the people in our area."

Let's come together as a nation-wide team to show our Baton Rouge branch how much we care! Challenge your branch-members and fellow team-members to help reach our $5,000 goal, all of which will go directly towards repairing Brian's, Paul's and Stacy's homes.

All money will be donated to Clarke Southall, Branch Manager, who will then distribute the funds.
