Dear Loving Person Reading This,
My name is Ashley Sargent; I am 30 years old and have been chronically ill since I was 17. I am immuno-suppressed and suffer from several autoimmune conditions the most serious being CIDP, which is a degenerative neurological disorder and a non-epileptic seizure disorder. Over the years my health has slowly declined but I have always fought my hardest to keep working and to take the best care of myself that I possibly could.
This last April I had a kidney infection that lasted 4 months and triggered my body to go into full autoimmune panic mode and for me to develop fibromyalgia. I had to stop working in May and was denied disability rights by my employer. In mid Novemeber I was forced out of my job as a result of my health with no severance package. I have been living off of my savings and donations since May.
I had a savings account once, I worked hard and I saved my money. I tried to plan for the worst but I never imagined it would get this bad. I never imagined that my company (I worked at a hospital) would deny me help and support when I needed it most.
I am currently waiting for Federal Disability to go through, but that can take months if not years. My life is and will continue to be dedicated to getting me stable and well. We are working hard to treat the NEseizures with trauma counseling, EMDR, and neurofeedback. I see my specialist twice weekly, but those therapies are not covered under insurance and so I am paying out of pocket.... but it is my only hope for recovery from my daily seizures.
It is with a humble, grateful and exhausted heart that I ask for you to please donate what you can to help me and my family to get through this period of difficulty and get to rebuilding a beautiful life! I have always felt an amazing amount of love and support from my community and I want you to know that any donation you can make would be a blessing. I do not know how to express the gratitude and relief I would feel if I did not have to live in fear of how I will pay for my tests, treatments and basic medical costs. I promise that I will not waste a penny of what is given to me and I will do everything I can to find wellness again and pay it forward.
