Tony Womac's Modified Van Fund

Donation protected
We have an emergency situation that happened yesterday. My good friend Tony Womac's only mode of transportation, his modified handicapped van, broke down and he was stuck at the garage with no way to even get home. Think about how scary that would be to be stuck at the garage with no way to even call someone to come pick you up because you can't get in their car. The van can't be fixed so he will be required to somehow find another one without even a way to go look for one. These vans are about double the cost of a regular van, and he doesn't have to funds for the downpayment. He has to pay an attendent daily to get him ready which is a huge expense, and we all know teacher salaries aren't the best. He supplements his income by coaching swimming after school. I want to help him out because he does so much for the kids in our area. He is too proud to ask for help himself, so I thought I would tell his story.

Let me give you the background of this amazing man. When Tony was 20 years old he was a competitive swimmer. He had a diving accident and was paralyzed. Even with this new normal he finished college with his teaching degree and has taught elementary school for the last 18 years. For the last two years, I have been honored to work with him in his class. He is one of the most amazing teachers I have ever seen, and the kids absolutely adore him. He also coaches his swim kids during the year and in the summer. The picture says it all. He doesn't let his disability keep him down or stop him from doing what he loves. Without this van he can't even leave his house. He just started teaching at a new school in Cleveland, and Monday is the first day with students. He has to find a way to get there. His van has to have the hand controls and the drive on ramp, so without his van he will not be able to get to work. This is a very serious situation. I wish I could do more, but I hope you see it in your heart to help him try to get back on the road and to work.
