The Billings - Flood of 2016

Donation protected
My heart has been heavy since I spoke with a lifelong friend, Mike Billings (also a WHS Alumni) last night.  Mike and his wife Pam have lost their home and belongings to the Louisiana Flood of 2016.

Mike and Pam have a grown daughter Mallory, 12-year old son Colt, lost a son, Park born prematurely at the age of one in 2012, and three disabled foster children Kaci, 3 years old (they've adopted) Christopher, 18 months (adoption was due to be finalized this Friday) and Cassidy, 5 years (adoption is pending).

Mike is a federal employee and would truly give you the shirt off his back.  Mike and Pam have  huge selfless hearts. They recently provided breathing medication's for a foster child in someone else’s care and are constantly assisting other families fostering disabled children. They believe all children should be afforded the opportunity to be raised in a loving home and experience as much normalcy as possible.

Mike and Pam are very active in the fostering system.  Mike testified during Louisiana’s 2016 session before the Ways and Means committee regarding funding for fostering medical waivers and pediatric day health centers.   Mike was also instrumental in passing the Shaken Baby legislation, (http://www.legis.la.gov/legis/BillInfo.aspx?s=16RS&b=HB171&sbi=y)
which ended up being named after his daughter Kaci, The Kaci Billings Act.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMeUfit6704

They were only able to take a few items with them as the water rose so fast.   They are staying with Pam’s sister in Opelousas, which is over an hour away from BR.  Travel back and forth to BR is required several times a week for doctor and therapy appointments for the kids as well as to restore their home.   Most of the items used for the daily care, therapy, play, etc. for Kaci, Christopher, and Cassidy have been destroyed, as have all of Colt’s belongings.  These items are essential for the care, well being, and therapy for his children and will have to be replaced.  His home will have to be gutted, repaired and the contents replaced.

I am reaching out and asking for your help so we can give back to a family that has provided so much love, support,  and assistance to others.   Hopefully you will find it in your heart to provide a "love" gift in any amount!  The Billings would truly appreciate your assistance and thank you from the bottom of their hearts!

Thank you so much for your consideration.
