Traci Stoppa Benefit

Dear Friend:
We are seeking monies and/or donations for a benefit auction on behalf of our friend and colleague Traci Stoppa and her family. Traci has suffered serious medical problems in the last few years that have greatly affected her family both emotionally and financially. The Stoppa family is one of the most generous and kind-hearted families known to the many people around them, and are certainly deserving of our support. Traci is a 13 year veteran of the Saginaw Police Department and her husband, David, is a Michigan State Trooper. She also has a 16 year old son Matthew.
Traci was hired by the Saginaw Police Department as a Police Officer in August 1997. In December 2002, she went into the Drug Investigation Unit and became part of the Gang Task Force/SAFE Streets Unit for six years. During that time, she was recognized by the FBI as being one of the key players at taking down Sunny Side, one of the most violent gangs in Mid Michigan. She also received numerous awards as a police officer.
In May 2010, while attending her son’s baseball game, Traci had a brain aneurysm and stroke. Traci was not expected to live and was in a coma. Traci did live and through her and David’s hard work, she was able to walk, talk and even drive a car. Traci was forced to retire from the Police Department in 2011 due to the stroke. In December 2015, Traci suffered another stroke which affected all of her cranial nerves and took away her ability to blink her eyes, eat, drink and speak normally. She receives all her nutrition through a feeding tube. In addition, Traci is unable to walk or bathe without assistance and has no feeling on the left side of her body. She has constant tremors radiating though her body. Traci requires 24 hour care and additional therapy that insurance will not cover.
