Help Make Mom with ALS Comfortable

My mother was diagnosed with ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. (The same disease that people were doing the ice bucket challenge for. She was diagnosed in October 2015, a month before her grandson turned one. This news was heart breaking. The medical community has very little to offer ALS patients, but that has not deterred Kim’s fierce, unwavering determination. She fights each day, hoping something will halt, or better yet, reverse, this evil condition. My mother Kim has always been a fighter and that is what our family remind her of everyday. Daily, she is trying to keep herself strong. Hoping that one day there would be a cure. As her daughter I am working hard to make her as comfortable as possible. She has a lot of family and friends who love her dearly. She used to be an independent person, now unfortunately she has to depend on others for help and that hurts her. We are asking for help financially because she is in need of a comfortable environment. We need to make her home accessible for her. Make things easier for her. We may need to hire someone for extra help such as a home health aide. We need help making sure we could get all special equipment that is used to help ALS patients. Right now I am trying to keep my mom positive and comfortable.  This crippling disease can strike anyone at any age.

 We call on you today family, friends and any kind souls willing to help my mother Kim. Help us take some of this financial burden off of her shoulders, so she can concentrate on staying as strong as possible for as long as possible, while awaiting a cure. No amount is too small.
