Too much at once, and we need help.
Donation protected
This starts pretty normal. I, Amelia, needed pretty serious back surgery. I have insurance. The deductible was going to suck, but my job was being awesome, and we could make things work.
Well, while I was in surgery, my husband Dave had a stroke. It could have been a lot worse, but it left him without the ability to walk or stand on his own, as well as double vision in his already totality horrible eyesight.
Dave has insurance too, but not as good as mine, and we'll definitely be maxing out his deductible as well. Also, while his job is holding his position while he's getting better, he's not getting paid any sick time for the hours he's missing.
There were complications that have already sent me back to the hospital once for follow up surgery, and Dave has been transferred to a rehab hospital, in the hope of getting back most of his motor function.
We're normally really independent people. We look at problems and tackle them head-on. We've never been wealthy, but we've been really rich when it came to the important things like friendship and love. We are so lucky to be surrounded by awesome people who care about us.
But right now, we are looking at money and getting really scared. We can't find a way to clever our way out of this. And that's scary because we have three incredible little boys, who depend on us to keep their lives moving.
The money we are hoping to raise is going to cover our insurance deductibles, as well as Dave's lost income.
