Hello, we are the Gomara family and are looking to raise money for our Baba Neina (grandmother), who is visiting us from Papua New Guinea.
Whilst on holiday in Australia, she suffered a massive stroke. Due to the severity of her condition, our grandmother isn’t expected to make a recovery. Her condition is currently stable, however, she is unable to eat, sit, swallow or speak. She has no movement on the left hand side of her body; her arm, leg, face and tongue are paralysed.
Due to her condition and the fact that she isn’t covered by her travel insurance (due to a undiagnosed pre-existing condition) we have found ourselves in a position that we have to finance the hospital fees ourselves. We are incurring daily costs of approximately $2,000. Furthermore, the estimated costs are expected to be in the tens of thousands and we currently have no way of paying it.
The money we are seeking to raise will be used to pay for the hospital bills, medical treatment, medication and all the ongoing expenses we will incur in order to properly be able to care for her.
We are hoping to get her well enough to have the doctors give us the all clear to take her home to PNG. In the meantime we are at least hoping to bring her ‘home’ (in Melbourne) where we will then be required to purchase supplies to keep her as comfortable as possible. We have been advised that due to the extent of her illness she will need a hospital bed along with the equipment it requires, a hoist to lift her and the help and training of at least 2 individuals who will be providing her with the 24 hour, round the clock care she needs.
We are genuinely desperate for help. Any amount, great or small will help us a great deal, we have absolutely nothing right now. We would like to thank you in advance for your help and are so unbelievably grateful for every dontation we receive.
