I am a chosid of Chabad. My profession is professor of mathematics at Touro College in New York and I am the director of the Rabbi Yisroel Aryeh Leib Research Institute on Moshiach and the Sciences.
A few years ago, I published a major work titled Scientific Thought in Messianic Times, analyzing and explaining the major issues in the areas of Moshiach, Torah and science. To view selections from this book see my website www.RYAL.org
I am now writing a follow-up book titled Swords into Plowshares documenting the transformation of military technology and resources into peaceful uses since 1992 (after the end of the Cold War). This is an expansion of and an update of Chapter III of my first book on this topic.
I feel that it is extremely important that this book be written and publish as many people are discouraged by what they see going on in the world now and showing them the positive side - that "the glass is more than half full" will be very encouraging and uplifting. In fact we believe that this is a Messianic phenomenon - the prophecy of Isaiah being fulfilled - and that the glass will soon be full.
The funds contributed will be used for standard editing, printing and publishing of a book, and to some extent, support of the author while researching and writing the book.
This reserch and publishing on Moshiach and science issues - including our annual conferences in the U.S. and Israel - is my life's work and the more we are funded the more we can do. Whoever contributes to this effort - I consider him my partner.
