Family Support

My nephew Giovanni is a spunky 4 year old who can make anyone smile.  He loves sports more than I thought a toddler could.  He has the most amazing personality. He is a strong determined boy who see's the best in bad situations.  

The last day of school Lauren (Gio's mother) noticed Giovanni's eye was swollen.  She asked Gio what happened to him.  He told her"  I bumped my eye on the counter."  Lauren still wasnt happy with that answer so she took him to see his primary care dr.  He said it looked like a bruise and said if it doesnt get better to come back.  A few days went by and his eye started to look better.  After three weeks went by the eye started to swell again. The dr than told them that they should follow up with a neurologist.  That night Giovanni was playing with his younger brothers and bumped into one of them and just wouldnt stop crying.  Lauren was very concered and decided to go to er.  
After several test in the ER they found multiple lesions (tumors) over his skull, arms, legs, and pelvis. The er physicians admitted my nephew to the Maria Ferrari Childrens Hospital.  The doctor's decided they needed to do a biopsy on one of the lesions on his head.  The first surgery was done July 28th .  A week went by and they finally got some preliminary results, they were told they think the lesion on was Anaplastic large cell lymphoma.  Gio will begin chemo and kick cancers ass!!!

The family as you may know has not left his side.  They have both been taking off of work to be there for Giovanni.  Lauren is not currently getting paid for the time off and still has a family and bills to take care of.

I wanted to set this fund up as a way to help the family stay on their feet.  Any amount could help in this difficult time.
