Recovery fund for Moses Stevens
Moses' Home is destroyed and his family is left temporarily homeless
Around 7:30 pm the evening of July 29th, the Stevens family as well as a number of their neighbors were the victims of a house fire that claimed their home, and most of their personal belongings.
For Moses, this is a loss that goes beyond the normal trauma that fire victims experience. Because Moses, the Des Moines Police Department's 2014 honorary Cheif for Day, has been fighting hard to battle leukemia for the last couple of years. This tragedy means that after his difficult and often painful treatments he no longer has a bed to come home to at night.
Our goal is to do what we can to get the Stevens family back on their feet, into a stable housing situation, and return the security and comfort of home to little Moses.
