Bridget's Cancer Fight

Donation protected
Hello, friends. My sister, Bridget, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer (HER2 receptor, a protein-related cancer) in January of 2015, at the age of 34, when she was four months pregnant. The doctors started her on a mild chemotherapy, delivered her baby boy a month early in April, continued with a stronger chemo, performed a double mastectomy in August, gave her radiation, and would have finished all treatments in May of 2016, however, at the end of March, the doctors performed a scan to verify that she was cancer-free, and the scan came back with some suspicious spots. They ran a few more tests and in April, shortly before her reconstructive surgery was scheduled, the doctors confirmed that the cancer had returned to her breast (just under the skin that remained) and had also metastasized, entering lymph nodes in her lungs. In a matter of weeks, she went from thinking she was cancer-free, to learning that she had stage 4 breast cancer. Her doctors have been wonderfully supportive and so quick and proactive in treating the cancer, but at this point they are giving her no hope. It is terminal, and the only option they can offer her is to manage it with a mild form of chemo until she succumbs to the cancer. Once a chemo drug stops working, they will use another one, and on and on until the end.

In light of this bleak diagnosis, Bridget is seeking ways to heal her body. Her oncologist told her the cancer is not genetic, and suspects it resulted from environmental factors, so she is looking to heal by eliminating any potentially dangerous chemicals that she can, eating a strict vegan diet, taking vitamins and supplements, and looking for an alternative treatment center to help. Her insurance will not cover anything outside of the standard protocol of chemotherapy. She has not made a decision yet on where she will go, but her cancer is aggressive and her time limited, so once she makes up her mind, she will probably go to the treatment center within a week or two. I will update this page with specific information as I learn it. I do know that one of the places she is currently considering is Hope 4 Cancer in Mexico, which uses some treatments that are not currently approved by the FDA, but which are used in Germany and other European countries. She is also looking into a place in Europe, and is getting so many helpful suggestions that she is having trouble narrowing her decision down to any one place. Please pray that she will find the right place for her.

We are asking for prayers that God would heal her, of course. We are also praying that God will draw her close to Him during this trial. And we are asking for money to fund her stay at a treatment center, which will cost tens of thousands of dollars. Please consider donating to this cause. In addition to her baby, she also has a 2-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy. She and her husband, Nick, are Christians and have placed their faith and trust in Christ, but this is still a daily struggle for all of us, as you can imagine. If you can’t donate money, please pray. God hears our prayers, and He is the ultimate healer. Thank you!!!
