Pacemaker for Nelson

Tax deductible
Let's Save Nelson!

Did you know that dogs played a key role in developing the technology that led to pacemakers for humans?  Dogs were key test subjects during the trials.  In fact, the first implant of a human pacemaker in a dog was in 1968.

The League for Animal Welfare  thinks that means that Nelson, a sweet 2-year old dog, deserves - and certainly needs - a pacemaker of  his own.

On June 1, 2016, Nelson came to the League and into our hearts.  After his initial checkup, it was discovered that he had an abnormally slow heart rate.  He was diagnosed with atrial myopathy which sadly puts him at risk for sudden death.  But we can stop this from happening.

The League believes all animals deserve a chance at a long, happy life.  So this is our effort at ensuring just that for Nelson.  The total for the entire pacemaker procedure, hospitalization and everything else involved, will be about $3,800.

The League for Animal Welfare  and our friend Nelson would be grateful for any donation you can give.  Every and any amount would be helpful, useful and deeply appreciated.
