Life is fragile, and sometimes unfair. I'm starting this campaign for a family in our community. Maria Calderon is a single mother to 6 children and the father to the children is not in the picture.  Her two youngest sons, Erick and Michael, played baseball in Mira Mesa Little League with my sons - and were coached by my husband, Leonard, for a few seasons. Just this past Spring, we had the pleasure of having Michael on our team.

We recently learned that the cancer Maria has been battling is taking her life on earth quickly, forcing her children to plan their lives ahead without their mother.  Her medical bills are piling up along with her other bills, such as electricity, water, etc. On top of that, they need to plan ahead with expenses for after she's gone. It's heartbreaking not knowing how much longer they'll have their Mom, and they still need to keep up the responsibilities.

I feel it's a community responsibility to step up and serve her children so they can focus on spending these last moments with their Mom. I've spoken with Maria, Erick and his Aunts (Maria's sisters), and they gave me permission to crowdfund on their behalf. Every penny raised will go directly to their family. It doesn't hurt to reach out to everyone, so I'm asking for help... anything you can do will be greatly appreciated. No amount is too little.
