I'm not sure how to go about this. I'm not used to asking people for money.
I have always taken care of myself. But now I can't. I have a lot of health issues now that I'm older that keep me from working. I have applied for disability, and I am still in the appeals process.
Meanwhile, I have been diagnosed with Retinal Occlusion. Which basically means that I have pressure building up behind my left eye, that cuts off the blood flow to my optic nerve, and causes bleeding behind my eye. I have to get a shot of Avastin in my eye every six to eight weeks to relieve the pressure, or I will lose vision in my eye.
Living in Florida, I cannot get insurance. I can't afford a policy for myself, and, since I'm not 62 years old yet, and I don;t have documents to prove I am disabled, I can't get Medicaid or Medicare either. My visits to the Opthamologist are $385.00 - $425.00, and I can't afford that. When I get my disability, I will have insurance. So, I need help until then.
I can't stand the thought of going blind in even one eye. I have been told if left untreated, it will start to impair the vision in my right eye as well. Now I'm really scared!
The reason I'm asking for $4000, when the treatments are about $400, is because I'm trying to raise enough for multiple treatments. I'm hoping to have my disability and the insurance by the time the $4000 is gone.
So I am asking for any help I can get to save my eyesight. I have nowhere else to turn. God bless everyone who helps me!
