Tim's Cancer Fight

Meet Tim Burnette. Tim lives in Danville, VA with his wife, Ellen, two kids (Katelyn and Scott Burnette, and his wife, Sarah) and close family. Tim is a HUGE University of North Carolina Tar Heel fan, loves tattoos, and enjoys watching golf, home improvement shows, and car shows. Tim's cancer journey began 15 years ago, when he was only 36 years old. He was diagnosed with Squamous cell carcinoma, or oral cancer. He underwent a major surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, and was given a feeding tube in which he still has to this day (Tim has not eaten food in 15 years!) Tim fought hard, and his cancer went away and he was able to return to his job as a tire builder at Goodyear. However, that was short lived when Tim's cancer came back again 12 years later. He is currently fighting his fourth cancer recurrence, his third since 2012. Tim was forced to retire from his job that he loved, and was put on disability. He went from a wonderful job to making 1/3 of what he was making. When Tim's cancer came back for the fourth time, his wife Ellen took off work to take care of him. As of July 22, Tim has taken 21 rounds of chemo this year. He has been put on a new chemo that we are hoping will take this cancer away for good! The reason I am creating this page is to help with all of the financial costs associated with Tim's medical bills. He has been taking almost weekly treatments since January, and each treatment can be between $4000 to $7000 a week. Tim and Ellen have insurance, but are still left with a copay even after insurance. He just started a new treatment July 22 and since it is new, the cost is around $150,000 dollars and insurance will not pay. Thankfully, Dr. Gai got them to approve him, but they do not know what the copay is yet - Even if insurance pays all but $100 that is still a lot left to pay. Ellen has not been working since March, so they are only receiving one paycheck. Tim is such a strong man, and has faith that God is going to heal him and get him through this, just as he has 3 times before. Please, if you can donate, please help the Burnette family.
