Kevin O'Brien Fundraiser

My name is Krista McGovern. Many of you know my one and only sibling Kevin O'Brien. Kevin was diagnosed with hydrocephalus from unknown source in 2010 and had a VP shunt placed from his brain to his stomach to manage the fluid pressures in his head. He had been doing well, working as a Fraud Prevention Analyst at East Boston Savings Bank for the past 15 years. In April of this year his shunt had malfunctioned and he had to have it repaired. He did well with this surgery and was able to recover at home with the help of family, friends, and visiting nurses. On May 13th, Kevin was brought back to the hospital and he we learned he suffered a stroke which has left him cognitively impaired. Kevin was at the Brigham and Woman's Hospital for 6 weeks and is now at Kindred Hospital in Brighton. His insurance company feels that he has reached the time to go home with services. Kindred hospital tried to place him in a Stroke recovery program at a skilled nursing facility which is truly what he needs. The insurance company is denying the stroke program. If Kevin has any shot of getting any portion of his life back he needs this Stroke recovery program. We can't thank you enough for all the love and support we have received over these long months.
