BANNO STRONG

WILDCAT DOWN…… In need of help. Charles Banno (also known to many of you as Charlie back in the day) is a father, grandfather and friend.  About four months ago, Charles was diagnosed with a blood infection that settled into his spine causing Osteomyelitis, a rare bone infection. The infection abscessed causing him to be paralyzed from the waist down.  He now requires continuous medical care and treatments, an extensive list of medications, physical and occupational therapies, medical equipment such as an electronic wheel chair, bed lifts and even new transportation with a lift system for his wheelchair. The list of his current needs is ongoing. Obviously, this has been a life changing situation for him and our entire family. Watching one of the strongest, toughest, most independent men we know, become paralyzed has been very trying but we continue to work daily toward his recovery and hope he can one day soon be able to live independently.  Due to these recent events, our dad has lost his job, his ability to work, his home, his car and the little bit of savings he had acquired.  To complicate things, he is also without health insurance until March of next year when he is eligible for Medicare.  This is restricting our treatment options significantly. We are helping as much as we can as a family but due to the endless amount of past, present and future expenses he needs help. He has been battling with the decision to allow us to post this, but the time has come that he is out of options.

Our dad is only 64 years old and still has lots of life left to live. He grew up in East Dallas and attended Woodrow Wilson High School, both of which he is very proud. He was an All-American linebacker in High School who went on to play for the University of Texas in Austin. He later opened Banno Brothers Seafood on lower Greenville Ave in Dallas with his brother, Sammy. Our dad has worked hard his entire life, asking very little of anyone, but if any of you are in a position to help us try to get him through this and back on his feet, we will be forever grateful. Please share with all of your friends and family, and please ask all of them to do the same. All funds raised will be used for his healthcare, medical expenses, rehabilitation and equipment and welfare needed on his road to recovery. Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers. His kids, grandkids and future grandkids truly appreciate all of your support. WILDCAT DOWN! #BANNOSTRONG
