Dave's Recovery Fund

I'm setting up this fund on for my little brother Dave. (On the left there) Anyone who has met Dave will know he has a big, compassionate heart - but at the moment that heart needs help.
Dave collapsed at the finish line of the Clontarf half-marathon on Saturday 9th July. The electrical pulse that tells his heart to beat didn’t fire and everything shut down. He wouldn't be with us now if it wasn't for his fellow runners who immediately started CPR and kept his lungs and heart functioning for 15 minutes until he could be resuscitated. When he got to hospital and was stabilised we all breathed a huge sigh of relief!
But yesterday we learned that Dave needs to have open heart surgery to replace his aortic valve in the next few days. It's a tough surgery (he has been through it before) and we know that recovery will be hard. There are many supports that Dave will need in the coming months and we know that the more time and energy he had to focus on recovery, the better.
The new, mechanical valve will mean Dave will take Warfarin for the rest of his life and that will mean extra adjustments and tests in the months ahead, on top of the usual recovery from surgery. As Dave is self-employed, we know it will be stressful to keep things balanced in the coming months and we want to take away that worry as much as we can.
We want him to be fit and healthy and able to resume his training in counseling and psychotherapy come October.
Money raised here will go to covering Dave's ongoing medical expenses and allow him to take the time needed to rehabilitate and recover.
We know not everyone is in a position to financially help, and many of you will help Dave out in lots of other ways. But we wanted to provide a way for people to help out that way if they can. Any little amount helps and with a bit of luck, Dave will recover well!
