We Believe In You Scholarship

On Thursday, May 10, 2018, the East St. Louis School District 189 Superintendent (against the unanimous vote of the School Board) made a unilateral decision to suspend all of the members of the East St. Louis Sr. High School Boys Track and Field Team. This decision was hastily made in response to an altercation that involved several  adult members of the community and three (3) male members of the over 40 member East St. Louis Sr. High School Boys Track and Field Team. The community stood together to dispute the decision of the Superintendent and support these young men, however, the decision was upheld by the Illinois State Superintendent. These young men were competing to not only show the skills they had worked to master, they were competing to gain scholarships for collage attendance this upcoming year. As a result, these seniors have been disadvantaged in obtaining scholarships and acceptance onto collegiate track teams. As a result WE BELIEVE IN YOU Community Scholarship has decided to make the inaugural year goal to provide scholarships for the eligible young men to attend college.
