Trevs Bike Tour of Europe

Donation protected
At the age of 43, I had a heart attack. For the next 2 years, I considered all the things I had not done or missed out on in my life. A dream I have had for many years was to do a long tour by bicycle. This was what I considered my most achievable dream. I made the decision to tour Europe by bike and visit as many countries in Europe as possible. With my heart condition, I felt that I should try to seek the flattest route around Europe to reduce the stress on my heart. To date, I have cycled from my home in Northern Ireland, across southern Scotland and northern England to get the boat to Holland. I cycled across Holland into Germany and south along the river Rhine. A setback in Dusseldorf made me reconsider my journey and I returned to Holland to rest and rethink my plan. With the encouragement and kind words from family and friends, many of those friends are the kind people I have met on my journey, I decided to continue with my tour.
I then cycled across Holland to Belgium, still thinking of my best route but also taking into account my "strange" fascination with bridges. When I meet people along the way, they tell me of interesting places to go and if they interest me, if they intrigue me, I head in that direction to check them out. I have seen some beautiful sights and met some simply wonderful and kind people which spurs me on with added enthusiasm. My budget is low and getting lower which makes me think that I cannot achieve my goal. I wild camp to keep costs down. Staying in official campsites only to wash my kit and myself...properly and rest, usually 2-3 days is enough for recovery. Then I set off on my journey again. I eat simple but filling foods and manage to buy a lot of food for a relatively small cost. Campsites can be expensive but I will ride further to find the cheapest one where I can clean up and also charge my power banks. This helps me to keep family and friends informed of my progress and also keep me in contact with health services should I need help. So far, and since my heart attack, I have been in good health and I think that is down to my own awareness of my health and my knowledge of my limitations.
My equipment was all purchased at the lowest cost possible and my bike was donated by my former employer.
I had to replace the trailer that I use to carry my kit when I arrived in Holland so that took a large chunk out of my budget. It leaves me now that I have to rely on family and friends who kindly help me financially when they can.
I would like to reduce that burden by asking you, my friends and strangers alike, to help me continue on my tour.
Any amount, large or small will go some way to helping me buy food, stay for a short period in a campsite and even simply top up the credit on my phone so I can stay in touch.

There may be the odd mechanical issue with my bike or trailer, I can fix most things but some parts cannot be fixed and need to be replaced. My bike is basic and can be repaired for a relatively low cost since I can replace the parts myself.

If you can help me carry on with my tour, I can maybe repay your kindness with a picture of a place you suggest or maybe something else...

In anticipation of your kindness, I thank you....from the bottom. Of my heart...a touch of my humour there
