The Wilson Family

Donation protected

I started this page to help my sister Ashley Smith Wilson and her family raise $ for medical bills & medications not covered or completely covered by insurance, school supplies & school uniforms for the children and household bills. Any little bit helps and all of your donations will be greatly appreciated!
Ashley was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma -Breast Cancer on May 10, 2016.
Bilateral Mastectomy with Axillary lymph node dissection and Phase 1 reconstructive surgery was done on June 1st. The original mass that set all of this in motion measured  2.5cm. During surgery all breast tissue was removed from both sides & 9 lymph nodes from the left side .  While in surgery 2 more masses were found in the milk ducts of the left breast, these were small, measuring 0.4cm & 1.3cm they were diagnosed as Non Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. ER & PR positive (hormone positive), this will mean hormone therapy later down the road. 3 of the 9 lymph nodes removed tested positive for cancer, diagnosed as Stage 3A.  Tissue expanders were put in during this surgery to start the reconstruction.
Ashley did well with surgery and is now onto the next steps. She is recovering and is keeping a positive attitude.
June 23, 2016 was her first tissue expander fill. She goes in weekly for this to stretch the tissue to make room for the 2nd phase of the reconstructive surgery.
On June 28, 2016 was the first round of chemotherapy. She will have 4 rounds of Adrinamyacin + Cytoxan Chemotherapy. It will be 1 treatment every 21 days. Then switch to  12 rounds of Taxol that will be 1 treatment a week for 12 weeks. The first chemo Ashley handled well, she didn't end up sick, just very tired and nauseous and it changed her taste. She doesn't like the taste of several of her favorite foods and drinks now.
After the chemotherapy treatments are all finished Ashley will start on Hormone Therapy  called Tamoxifen for 5 years and possibly Herceptin which will also be for 5 years if needed.
Ashley has started back to work part time and is on the road to recovery but having missed several days of work for all the differant Dr. appointments, surgery, recovery and now chemo along with not being able to put in the 40 hours or more a week that she was used to her family is needing some help.
Once all the Chemotherapy is finished she will undergo another surgery. This 1 will be for Phase 2 reconstruction to put implants in. This will take place around the end of December or first of next year.
No donation is too small any little bit helps!
