We want to tell you about our friend Isla.
She is always the bright spark, cracking jokes and making people laugh. She has been there when ever we have been down and we am so lucky to call her a friend.
Recently, Isla and her boyfriend Mike went up to work in the Yukon.
Isla had been getting light headed and some intense headaches but doctors dismissed it as migraines. Then, Isla collapsed and lost part of her speech. She was rushed to Whitehorse Hospital and after an MRI, it was revealed that she had a tumor in her brain, the size of a small fist. Because it was so large, Isla had to be air lifted to Victoria, BC to get emergency surgery.
Our Isla is a fighter and her strong spirit is suprising the doctors but currently, we are waiting for the pathology results to find out how aggresive the tumor was. We just take each day as it comes as we do not know what is around the corner.
The road to recovery is long. Isla needs to recover from major surgery and then she might need to get some form of chemotherapy and maybe even radiation. We have been told that Isla cannot work for 5-6 months at least.
We made this account so that she can take her time to recover without worrying about the finacial burden of being off work but also so that her boyfriend Mike can stay with her, and help with the process.
Isla is a friend to so many people so we are getting together to look after her. All funds are going to Isla and Mike so that they can stay in Victoria and work through this together.
The money donated will be used towards living expenses, getting all their belongings back from Whitehorse, and any medical bills that will arise in the future.
