Eli Simmons

Eli's inpatient stay at UAMS Psychiatric Institute Child Diagnostic Unit has identified some new diagnoses and confirmed some previous ones. This program is based on collaborative problem solving (CPS) wherein all meds are weaned so that a true observation of behaviors and lagging skills can be identified as far as possible until safety becomes an issue.  A heart wrenching journey I must say. I could list all diagnoses but most importantly ASD, delayed gross/motor skills, speech, visual perceptual delays, depressive and mood dysregulation and sensory/neurological disorder....misfires that can cause multiple issues, i.e. behaviors that are affected by "wiring" of and "connections" within the brain. These internal workings drive the substantial portion of his difficulties.
Some medications and actual treatments require medicaid approval for medications and sensory tools and treatments he needs NOW. I have been unable to work and his inpatient stay took a great financial toll. It is embarrassing to ask for financial help on social media but Eli is my life and getting the right help, the right tools/equipment, as well as learning how to implement it all, and reacclimation back to the "outside" world has been exhausting, but necessary. I will not climb upon my soap box to discuss the bureaucratic BS of the CPT code of one facility having to match that of another to that of medicaid to that of school district for IEP to even receive the treatment he needs. A long process ahead and hopefully my last post for a while although my gratitude for your donations, prayers and guidance is endless. I thank you, I honor you and I love you with all that I am.
