SHORT SUMMARY Im Matthew Roopchandsingh, im 25,I am on a wheelchair and i have Duchene Muscular Dystrophy, (A disease that weakens every muscle in the body). And i also use a non invasive Ventilator(a machine that i use to assist my lungs because they are weakening, i use it 24 hours a day) I've been fighting all my life, fighting Muscular Dystrophy, fighting to get the things that I need to have to make my life easier because it's hard to get anything for disabled people, so I'm still fighting and I will never stop fighting. Im doing this because i need to make my room downstairs in the garage, with access to a bathtub, toilet and sink, I think moving my room from upstairs to downstairs will make my life easier because it's hard and my house is not handicap accessible, I have to be carried up and down 10 steps everyday and it takes two people to carry me because someone has to carry the vent down while someone carries me down. I have a stair lift but it doesn't work. Also when I have to take a bath and use the toilet I have to also be carried to the bathroom and the vent has to be brought to the bathroom also so moving downstairs is the only solution. I feel like everyone else's life is progressing and moving forward and my life is just stuck on repeat,  and have a life like everyone else. Soo please donate and help me get my room downstairs built and help me make my life easier-Matt MY FULL STORY...... My Name is matthew Roopchandsingh and i am 25 years old and i have Duchene Muscular Dystrophy. A disease where every muscle in your body becomes weak. It all started back when i was 6, i was a normal 6 year old kid i liked to ride my bike and play outside, but at school i noticed that I was not like all the other kids i couldn't run, snap my fingers,i wasn't as strong as them and i would fall out of no where. Then the school nurse noticed that I walked diferent from the other kids and told my parents so they took me to see a docter and they said that their is something wrong. So i went for a blood test and my parents found out i have muscular dystrophy. Then my life changed forever. I looked like a regular kid on the outside but in the inside i knew i was different. When i was 9 i started to lose the ability to walk fast, i got a walker but by the time i got the walker i completely lost the ability to walk and i had to get a wheelchair. So now im 9 years old in 3rd grade in a wheelchair, from that day i would be looked at differently for the rest of my life. Life in a wheelchair at 9 as a 3rd grader in elementary school was not that bad, i made friends, who knew that the other kids thought being in a wheelchair was cool , but in high school I never really had any friends. I had to get a home care aide, because everything started to get difficult for me like eating, bathing, going to the bathroom and everything else and my parents worked, it was weird at first but i got used to it. In 2004 i got a powered wheelchair, it took some time and some accidents around the house to get used to driving it but i did. Now in 2007 i got the ventilator, a machine that assists my breathing to exercise my lungs cause with muscular dystrophy my lungs also get weak, i used it when i was watching TV or playing video games, but now I'm so dependent on it ,i can only be off the vent for 2 minutes and then I feel like a fish out of water gasping for air. On October 6th 2008 I had spinal fusion surgery because I had bad scoliosis and I would lean towards the right and my ribs would rub against my hip and cause a lot of pain. After the surgery it took about 3 months for me to recover. I lived life with no problems until summer of 2011, I had a near death experience, since my immune system is so weak, if anyone has a cold or cough or any type of illness, I can catch it, it was a respiratory virus, I ended up in the hospital for some weeks, when I have to cough mucus up or when I aspirate food, I have to use a machine called a cough assist, which pushes air into my lungs and sucks the air back out and makes me cough, when I do aspirate food i have to keep using the cough assist for hours until I get the food out of my lungs it is kinda scary sometimes. In 2012 I graduated high school with honors but I didn't go to college because the college I wanted to go to was in the city.
