Rúnar: Disabled Boy's Dream Journey

Help make a disabled boy’s dream come true!

Hi, my name is Rúnar. I'm a 27 year old disabled boy from Iceland. I'm trying to achieve my ultimate dream of traveling to New-Zealand and going on a special "The Lord of the Rings tour". I can't do it alone and I need help so I‘m creating this page in hopes that you guys can help make my dream a reality.

So please donate and share this page on Facebook, Twitter, just wherever you can, and ask others to do the same. Let’s spread the word and make this happen!

If you are not able to donate you can still help immensely just by sharing my page. The more people that see this, the more likely this is to happen.

Every donation is very much appreciated and every little thing helps!

Here below is my full story and all the details about me and my distant dream :)

Hi my name is Rúnar, I’m 26 years old and I live in Iceland. I was born 3 months ahead of time only 1kg/2 pounds and I have cerebral palsy. I’m confined to a wheelchair and will be all my life. As one can imagine being disabled in a wheelchair means you unfortunately can’t do most things you want to do. I won’t lie, being disabled is very difficult, every day you sit back and watch people go places or do things you wished you could do. But then it’s even more important to never give up and try your best to make some of the things you want to do, happen.

That brings me to the creation of this page. I’m a HUGE The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit fan, not a day goes by without me doing something related to it and I live and breathe Middle-Earth as you can clearly see by looking at the pictures :) My ultimate dream/on the top of my bucket list, is to travel to New Zealand and to go on a 14 day tour, to travel across the country and visit all the locations that were used in the filming, meeting the people responsible for creating this masterpiece and getting a look behind the scenes and just being in NZ/Middle-Earth for real. Here is the tour I’m hopefully going on http://www.redcarpet-tours.com/lotr-tours/14-day-lord-of-the-rings-tour

I find it quite hard actually to describe just how much The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit means to me and my life. It’s much more than just movies or books to me. If I’m feeling down or just plainly having a bad day I can always lose myself within this magical world and forget all about my disability and troubles even if it’s just for a little while.

New Zealand is very far from Iceland and this will be a very expensive and difficult journey (flights, the tour and accommodations). I knew I could never afford this myself, being disabled and receiving disability pension which would never be enough to pay for this adventure. So I always thought that my dream would just stay a dream and I would never be able to see it coming true. That was until I stumbled on this site and saw all the amazing work gofundme and the people in this world were doing. Helping people in times of need and making distant dreams like mine, a reality. This filled me with great hope and here I am writing my campaign :)

My fundraising target is a rough estimate of what this would cost (the flights, the tour itself and all the accommodations). I cannot do this alone and therefore I’m taking a group of people with me to help me on this journey and experiencing this with me.

Like I said earlier, my fundraising target is a rough estimate if what this would cost for me and three others that would help me on this adventure. But it’s possible I would need more (some unexpected costs or even another helping hand). So if we would happen to go over the target that would only help even more, in making this trip happen and make my life better.

So please help me make this dream of mine a reality, donate and share this page as much as you can, and ask others to do so. Let’s spread the word and make this happen!

If you are not able to donate you can still help immensely just by sharing my page. The more people that see this, the more likely this is to happen.

If you can help me on this way I will post here some pictures and keep you update on how the trip went so you can see first-hand what your help and donations achieved.

A very special thank you goes out to Gisela Weinert and her daughter Tine. Thank you for all your assistance in creating this page for me :)

Here below are some pictures that clearly show how big a nerd I am and how much I enjoy The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and Middle-Earth
