Please help us save the Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats.
We have completed and published 10 years of captive management, research and breeding. We are ready to take our research in situ.
We need to raise $28,000 AUD for the preservation of the first track of land to save this species, which is located on the west coast of South Australia.
These are truly amazing and unique animals, that are currently being killed faster than they can regenerate.
We can't wait for our Government to save our native animals from extinction. We, the people, need to step up and take action.
Once the property is established, we will open it to volunteers, researchers and the public for education.
Our research will include:
*Translocation of animals that are marked for culling.
*Ecology and biology of the wild population
*Genetic diversity
*Disease management
*Social dynamics
*Effects of climate change on the species
These animals are currently being culled, hunted for food, are victims of road trauma, and threatened by introduced diseases.
We must do something to save the Southern Hairy-nosed wombats before it's too late.
